"Week of National Day": Honoring the National Flag, Strengthening Civic Pride: School Flag-Raising Ceremony and PLA Hong Kong Garrison Exchange Activity

On 5 October 2026, Lam Tai Fai College started the annual "Week of National Day". The theme of this year is "正向堅毅創未來樂群同行迎國慶".

To echo the theme, we were honored to have distinguished officers from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison visit our school campus for a special Flag-Raising Ceremony and Student Exchange Activity.

The morning assembly commenced solemnly on the school playground with all teachers and students gathered in respectful attendance. Accompanied by the resolute cadence of the marching sequence, the flag-bearers escorted the National Flag to the flagpole. As the National Anthem played, the National Flag was raised with full dignity and respect across the school grounds.

Following the ceremony, Principal Kwok and student representative 6E Wong Aldo delivered the Address under the National Flag. Drawing upon insights from the school's recent study tour to Nanjing, their speeches highlighted the nation's rapid technological advancements and rich history, encouraging students to nurture civic responsibility, national pride, and a drive for excellence.

Following the main assembly, officers from the PLA Hong Kong Garrison conducted a dedicated interactive workshop with the Lam Tai Fai College Student Flag-Raising Team. The officers provided expert, hands-on instruction on standard flag-raising protocols, Chinese-style drill precision, and seamless team coordination. During the subsequent sharing session, student team members reflected on the discipline, composure, and pride required to fulfill their duties, describing the exchange as a deeply inspiring and transformative learning experience.

This milestone event successfully deepened our students' understanding of national development, fostered a strong sense of belonging, and elevated the operational standard of our school's flag-raising team.
