Greater Bay Area (GBA) Career Exploration Tour
To further equip senior secondary students with the knowledge and readiness to seize new opportunities for career development in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), the Career Education Department organized a three-day, two-night GBA Career Exploration Tour across Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Guangzhou in late March for 30 S4 and S5 students.
Through first-hand visits to enterprises, talent hubs, and museums, as well as discussions with representatives from talent hubs and guided introductions provided on-site, students deepened their understanding of the latest developments across key industries in the GBA. In particular, they gained insights into current talent requirements, the growth of Hong Kong enterprises in other GBA cities, and models of collaboration between enterprises in Hong Kong and those in other GBA cities.
Students were highly enthusiastic about the opportunity to visit DJI Technology Limited, where they gained an in-depth understanding of the historical development of drones and the emergence of the low-altitude economy. In addition, the European-inspired architecture surrounding Songshan Lake Park, which houses Huawei’s headquarters, enabled students to appreciate how industrial development can foster well-established communities for employees.
Furthermore, during the visit to the Dongguan Science and Technology Museum, students were able to connect scientific knowledge with real-world applications and understand how Dongguan evolved from a low-end manufacturing hub to a modern technology-driven city. Visits to the Qianhai–Hong Kong–Shenzhen Youth Dream Works, the Nansha Talent Hub, and the Tianhe Hong Kong and Macao Home also provided valuable learning experiences on how local development and talent cultivation support regional growth, including the support available for young people and youth start-ups who plan to begin their entrepreneurship. Such information is valuable for our students as they consider starting their own businesses in the GBA after graduation.
Overall, the itinerary provided a well-balanced combination of technology exposure, learning visits, and place-based exploration. These guided educational experiences helped students gain practical insights, broaden their horizons, and strengthen their awareness of future career development opportunities in the GBA.
