Visiting the Hong Kong Palace Museum

On November 27, students from our school visited the Hong Kong Palace Museum to explore the captivating exhibition titled A History of China in Silk. This remarkable exhibition provided a unique opportunity for students to learn about the exquisite silk garments worn by emperors and their consorts throughout Chinese history.

During the visit, students marvelled at the intricate craftsmanship of silk robes while listening to the explanations of a guide. This experience allowed them to appreciate the artistry involved in creating these magnificent garments, which is not only vital carriers of colours, patterns, and fashion culture, but also serve as a significant material for ancient Chinese calligraphy and painting. The exhibition highlighted silk's unique contribution to the world of cultural art.

In addition to the silk exhibit, students also explored another captivating section titled From Dawn to Dusk: Life and Art in the Forbidden City. This part of the museum provided an insightful glimpse into the daily life within the Forbidden City, illustrating the nuances of life from morning to night in the Qing dynasty. Students discovered the rich material and spiritual world of the palace's inhabitants, expanding their understanding of the history and culture of ancient China.

The visit offered students a deeper appreciation of China's rich cultural heritage, allowing them to witness firsthand the artistry and history that have shaped Chinese civilization.
