The 16th Swimming Gala

On 3rd October 2019, the 16th Swimming Gala was successfully held at Ma On Shan Swimming Pool. On top of the perfect weather marking the grand beginning of the event, our Director of Sports Development, Mr. Lai Yiu Keung, also delivered a speech in the Opening Ceremony. In Mr Lai's speech, two pieces of celebratory news were announced. In 2018, one of our fellow students Chang Yujuan from S5P became the very first Hong Kong athlete who was awarded a gold medal in the Gymnasiade. Moreover, in the 7th Hong Kong Games, Yuen Kai Ho from S6P was throned the champion in Men's 200m Breaststroke. The achievements were certainly encouraging.

Several events were held on that day including individual events, inter-house relays, inter-class relays and the parent-child relay. To end the event, we were honoured to have Mr Ng Chun Lam, a former Hong Kong Swimming Team Member, to give an inspiring remark to motivate students in their athletic development. He was also invited to present the trophies to our winners. The Annual Swimming Gala serves as an effective platform for students to unleash their potential and apply what they acquired in the Physical Education lessons. Besides, students also learned how to cooperate with one another, cheer for their counterparts and experienced the true spirit of competition. Today was definitely an enjoyable and memorable day for all students, teachers and parents.
