Mr. Tam Yat Yuk
Profile of Principal Yat-yuk TAM
Mr Tam completed his secondary education at Pui Ching Middle School. Immediately after his graduation from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Mr Tam started his career at Carmel Pak U Secondary School. In 1996, he was appointed the Founding Principal of Baptist Wing Lung Secondary School.
Throughout the 19 years of his service, Mr Tam laid down the guiding principles of environmental education of Baptist Wing Lung Secondary School. The school received the Champion of the First Hong Kong Green School Award (1999 – 2000) in secondary school category. For five consecutive years, the school was awarded the School Honours Award and Special Award by the Environmental Campaign Committee. In 2009, the school was given the honour of Exemplary School by the National Working Committee for UNESCO Project on Education for Sustainable Development in China. The school was also awarded Bronze Award in the 2010 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (School Sector). It received Gold Awards in the Sustainable Development School Award programme twice.
Under Mr Tam’s leadership, Baptist Wing Lung Secondary School received The Most Caring Teaching Team Award and the honour of Caring School Campus jointly awarded by Hong Kong Christian Service, Hong Kong Association of Careers Masters and Guidance Masters and the Education Bureau in 2008. The school was awarded The Most Harmonious School Campus in a competition organized by the City University of Hong Kong in 2011.
Prior to joining Lam Tai Fai College, Mr Tam served at Pui Ching Middle School from September 2015 to August 2018. During this period, he led his alma mater to win numerous awards in both academic and non-academic areas. In addition, he also served as the Chairman of The Association of Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools for eight years.
As an experienced school leader, Mr. Tam is impressed by the unique school mission of Lam Tai Fai College and vibrancy on campus and thus takes up the Principalship in September 2018 as a successor to Mr. Raymond K W Wong.
